Being in the Old Bombay Market is always a bit chaotic. Our spot is at C-412 on the ground floor. If you've ever been to Umarwada, you know how busy it gets around here. There are carts moving, people shouting, and lots of fabric everywhere. We opened Monalisa Fashion Concepts because we wanted to be in the middle of all that action. It's a small space, really, but we pack a lot into it. Boxes are often stacked up near the door. We spend a lot of time unpacking things and checking the quality. It’s dusty work. Sometimes the lights flicker when the market's power is acting up. We don't mind. We talk to the other shopkeepers, grab tea from the stall nearby, and wait for the next shipment. Our stuff is mostly what you'd expect in a place like Surat. We focus on getting things out to people who need them. It isn’t a mall where everything is shiny. It's a working market. We've had this ground floor unit for a bit now. You just walk down the main aisle and look for the number. We’re usually there sorting through the new arrivals or writing out receipts by hand. It’s loud, it’s crowded, but it’s home for us. We just keep our heads down and get the work done. It is just the way we like to do things around here, day in and day out.
