Monalisa Fashion Surat

We aren't in a typical shopping center. Monalisa Fashion Surat is actually based out of Bunglow 9, right near Rupali Naher in Bhatar. It feels a bit more personal that way. You walk in and it’s like being in someone's house, because it basically is. We use the main rooms to display the clothes. There’s a nice breeze sometimes coming from the canal nearby. We started this because we had some space and a lot of ideas about clothes. It’s not always perfectly tidy. There might be a measuring tape left on a chair or some fabric scraps on the floor from where we were checking a hem. We do a lot of the work right here. People from the neighborhood drop by quite a bit. They know the gate is usually open during the day. We don’t do big ads. Word of mouth is how most people find Bunglow 9. It’s a bit of a trek if you aren't from this part of Surat, but we think it’s worth the trip. We have different outfits for different seasons. Sometimes we’re running behind on an order and things get a bit stressful, but we usually catch up. It’s just us doing what we know. No big corporate offices or anything like that. Just a shop in a bungalow where we try to keep things simple and honest. We enjoy the work and the people we meet.
