Our shop is number 119 on the ground floor of the Padmawati Textile Market. Being on the Ring Road in Surat means we are right in the middle of all the textile action. It is a very busy area with trucks and rickshaws moving fabrics all day long. The market itself is huge and can be a bit confusing for someone who isn't used to it. We have a small unit where we keep our stuff. There are always stacks of fabric and finished pieces around the floor. It’s hard to keep it perfectly tidy when new stock is coming in every other day. We spend most of our time talking to suppliers and checking the quality of what we get. There’s a lot of noise from the street outside and the other shops nearby, but that’s just life in Surat. We don't have a fancy showroom with carpets or anything like that. It’s a plain floor with some sturdy shelves and a few chairs for when someone needs to sit down. We usually have tea delivered from the stall around the corner twice a day. We’ve been operating from this ground floor spot for quite a while now. Most of our work is done through word of mouth and people seeing us in the market. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily load of work as it comes.
