Amend Watch Co

Our shop, Amend Watch Co, is tucked away near the Vadaj bus stop in Surat. It gets quite noisy with the buses pulling in and out all day, but we don't mind it much. Inside, it’s a different world with dozens of watches hanging on the walls. We spend our mornings opening up cases and blowing out bits of grit that get stuck in the gears. Being so close to the bus stop means we get a lot of people who are in a hurry. They drop off a watch while waiting for their ride and hope it's ready by the time they come back in the evening. We do our best to keep up. The workbench is always a bit of a mess with tiny screws and bits of metal scattered around, but we know where everything is. It’s honest work. We don't spend much on decorating the place because the watches are the main thing anyway. Some days are slow and we just sit and listen to the radio while we work. Other days, three people come in at once wanting new leather straps. We just take it as it comes. It's a small space, and the air gets a bit stuffy in the afternoon heat, but it’s home for us. We've been at this spot for years, and most people around Vadaj know where to find us when their time starts slipping.
