Ambika Store

Ambika Store is tucked away on G.T. Lane, which is off Bisra Road. If you know where the Hotel Radhika Regency is, we are basically right behind it. It’s a bit of a narrow lane, so it can be tricky for big trucks to get through when we are getting a delivery. We sell a bit of everything here. The shelves are usually pretty full, and sometimes we have boxes stacked in the aisles when we haven't had time to put things away. It’s a busy little spot. We get a mix of hotel guests who wandered out the back and locals who have been shopping with us for years. My family has been running things here, and we don't really go for any of that modern store design. It’s just plain shelves and a counter where we handle the cash. The lane gets a bit dark in the evenings, but we keep our lights bright so people can find us. It’s usually me or one of the boys standing near the front, waiting to help someone find a specific item. We don't do much advertising. People just know we are here behind the Regency. It’s a lot of work keeping track of the stock and making sure we don't run out of the basics. We just open up early and close late, six days a week. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living in this part of town.
