Titanic General Store

If you are over in the Chanapora area of Srinagar, you will find the Titanic General Store near Al Gazali School. We are in the Ram Bagh part of town. It’s a nice spot, though it gets quite cold in the winter months, and we spend a lot of time just keeping the shop warm for anyone who walks in. Being near a school means we see a lot of kids and parents every single day. They come in for all sorts of small things, from snacks to household items. We named it Titanic a long time ago, and it’s just stuck. We aren't a massive supermarket where you have to use a trolley; it’s more of a place where you can just ask for what you want and we’ll get it from the shelf. We know most of the families in Chanapora because their kids grow up coming here. Sometimes the stock takes a while to arrive when the roads are blocked, but that’s just part of living in Srinagar. We don't have a website or any fancy marketing. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the regulars to stop by. It’s a simple life, and we like being a part of this community. We don't make big claims about being the top shop; we just try to keep the basics in stock so you don't have to go all the way to the main market for small things.
