Down here at Dhakkipurani Mandi, we spend our time managing the stone crusher. It is a bit of a dusty spot but we have been here long enough that it feels like home to most of us. The business is run out of the space shared with Jagdish Raj Shastri’s place. We do not really have any big signs or a fancy front desk with a receptionist, just the yard and the crushers running most of the day. If you come by to see us, you will probably see the crew covered in a bit of grit from the machines. People around the Mandi know where we are located. It gets pretty busy when the trucks line up in the early morning. We try to keep things moving so nobody is waiting too long on their loads of stone. The machinery can be a bit temperamental, especially when it is humid out or after a heavy rain, but we keep it going as best we can. It is mostly just us handling the operations and making sure the stone is ready for whoever needs it. We do not do much marketing or anything like that, because the work usually speaks for itself when the trucks go out. It is a straightforward setup. We focus on the daily tasks and making sure we do not run out of material to crush. Being in this part of town means we are always seeing familiar faces. We are just a local crew doing what we know how to do with the stone and keeping the business moving.
