Allied Book Corner

You’ll find us at No. 2 in the Jigar Complex. We are right near Ziyarat Batamaloo, so it’s a spot that most people in the area know well. Our book corner is exactly what it sounds like—a place full of books. We’ve got shelves that reach up to the ceiling and sometimes we have to use a ladder to find what someone is looking for. It’s a bit dusty, but that’s the way old bookshops are supposed to be, right? We get all kinds of people coming in, from students looking for textbooks to older folks wanting something to read in the evenings. The Jigar Complex can get quite busy, especially in the afternoons. We spend a lot of time sorting through new arrivals and helping people find specific titles. It’s a small shop, but we try to keep a good variety of things. We don’t have a fancy computer system to track everything; a lot of it is just knowing where we put things on the shelves. Sometimes we sit on the stools outside the shop and watch the traffic go by. It’s a nice way to spend the day. We aren't trying to be the biggest bookstore around, just a reliable place for the people in Batamaloo to get their reading material. It’s been our life for years and we don't plan on changing much. We just like books and the people who read them.
