Dove Pre Primary School

Margao is a busy town, but our school is tucked away near the Bps Club on the Main Road. It is a good spot because people know the club well. The post office and the main district offices aren't far either. I grew up around here, so starting a school in this area felt right. The building is a typical one for this part of Goa, with thick walls that stay a bit cooler. We have a small staff of local people who have been with us for a while. Every morning, we open up the shutters and get the rooms ready. It's mostly about routine. The kids come in, they have their snacks, they learn some songs, and then they go home. We don't try to be anything we aren't. It is just a pre-primary school where children can be children. The traffic on the Main Road can be a bit much during rush hour, but once you step inside, it is much quieter. We have some outdoor space where they can run around when it isn't raining too hard. During the monsoon, we stay inside and do more crafts and drawing. It is a simple life here. We know the parents by name and often see them at the market later in the day. It’s a very close-knit kind of place and we like it that way. I usually make sure the tea is ready for the teachers by ten o'clock.
