Taneja Store

Taneja Store is a small ground-floor shop at 1092/1 in Mehrauli. It’s been here for many years, tucked away where the locals know to find us. We sell a bit of everything—sugar, lentils, soaps, and whatever else people need for their homes. The shelves go all the way to the ceiling and sometimes things get a bit dusty at the very back. It’s not one of those big supermarkets where everything is under bright lights and packed in plastic. Here, we know most of the people who come in by their first names. We talk about the weather or the local news while we weigh out the flour or the pulses. My son helps me with the heavy lifting and the deliveries now. Mehrauli is a very old area, so the streets are narrow and it can be hard to park anywhere near the shop. Most people just walk over from the nearby houses. We open early so the milk and bread are ready for the morning breakfast rush. Sometimes the delivery truck is late and we have to tell people to come back later in the afternoon. It’s a simple business. We don't have any fancy flyers or big discounts, just the regular prices we've always had for years. The shop is our life, and we spend most of our waking hours inside these four walls. It’s just a neighborhood store doing its part for the folks who live nearby. We hope to stay here for many more years to come.
