Shri Kant Store

If you are walking around Yusuf Sarai, you might see our shop at 74/3. It is called Shri Kant Store. I spend most of my day sitting behind the small wooden counter near the front door. The shelves are pretty packed with all kinds of things like bags of lentils, different soaps, and snacks for the kids. Honestly, it is a bit of a squeeze inside because we try to keep so many items in such a small space. I have a notebook where I keep track of what people owe me because many of the neighbors buy on credit and pay at the end of the month. The light in the back of the store has been flickering for a week and I keep telling myself I will fix it tomorrow. We get a lot of people coming in after work to grab things they forgot for dinner. It is not a big supermarket, just a local spot where people can get what they need without a fuss. My father started this business many years ago and I have just kept it going since then. I do not have a computer or anything fancy to ring up the bills. I just use a calculator and some old-fashioned paper. Sometimes the guy from the tea stall next door brings me a cup and we talk about the weather or the traffic. That is basically how my days go here at the store.
