Shadab Khan

I work as an electrical draftsman here in the 110025 area, right on the edge of New Delhi and Haryana. My name is Shadab Khan. It’s a busy spot with a lot of construction and new buildings going up all the time. I spend most of my day over a drafting table or a computer screen. It’s not the most exciting job for some, but I like the details and getting things right. I don't have a big fancy office. It’s mostly just me in a shared space with some other guys doing similar work. We share the kettle and the electricity bill. The commute can be a bit of a pain depending on the traffic, but you get used to it after a few years. I’ve been doing this for a while now. I learned the trade from someone who really knew their stuff. I don't use much marketing because my work usually speaks for itself. Someone needs a plan drawn up, they find me through a friend. I don't make big promises I can't keep. If a drawing is going to take three days, I say three days. I like keeping things honest. New Delhi is a fast place, but I try to keep my own pace. My desk is covered in rulers and blueprints most of the time. It’s just what I do. Nothing more to it than that. I’m just a guy with a skill trying to make a living and pay the bills on time.
