Our shop is number 23 in the Central Market at the Dda Flats in Kalkaji. If you know the area, you know we are right near the community centre and just across from the fish market. It gets very lively around here, especially in the evenings when everyone is out doing their shopping. You can definitely smell the fish market on some days when the wind blows the right way, but you get used to it after a while. The shop is small, so we have to be very careful with how we stack our supplies and where we put the chairs. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people are waiting, but nobody seems to mind much. We know the other shopkeepers around here, and we often grab tea from the stall nearby. The front door is glass and we try to keep it clean, but fingerprints always seem to find their way back. We’ve been in Kalkaji for years, watching the market grow and change. It’s a busy life, being right in the middle of all that noise and energy. We don't have a lot of peace and quiet, but we like being where the people are. We just open up the shutters every morning and get ready for whatever the day brings us. It's just us and our little spot in the middle of the market rush, doing our best to keep things moving.
