Chitra Realtors is basically just a few of us working out of an office in South Delhi. We don’t have a massive storefront with neon signs. Most of our work happens on the phone or while we’re driving around looking at different properties. South Delhi is a big place, and the neighborhoods change so fast. We spend our days meeting landlords, checking out leaky pipes, and showing apartments to people who are usually in a hurry. It’s a lot of walking up and down stairs because the elevators in the older buildings are always temperamental. We don’t wear suits unless we absolutely have to. Usually, it’s just jeans and a comfortable pair of shoes. The paperwork for rentals and sales is a headache, but we’ve gotten used to the local quirks. We know which streets flood when it rains and where the best parking spots are hidden. It’s a messy business sometimes, dealing with keys that don’t work and owners who change their minds at the last minute. We just try to keep things moving. There isn't a fancy philosophy behind what we do. We just help people find a place to stay or sell the one they have so they can move on. It’s practical, everyday work that keeps us busy from morning till night. We keep our files in old folders and our phones are always charging. It is just the way we run things here.
