You can find Bharat Engineering Co at E-67 Soami Nagar. It’s a bit of a quieter area compared to the main markets, which is nice because we can actually hear ourselves think. We’ve set up our workspace here to handle different engineering tasks. It’s mostly just us working with metal, lathes, and some older equipment that still works perfectly fine. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we spend most of our time focused on the machines anyway. There’s usually a bit of oil on the floor, so you have to be careful where you step. We don’t really do any big advertising. Most people who come to us are regulars or friends of friends who heard we could fix a specific part. It’s a small operation. We have a few benches where we do the assembly work. The light coming through the front windows is good in the morning. Sometimes the neighborhood dogs come and sit by the door while we work. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know how to handle the tools. We keep our spare parts in wooden crates stacked in the back. It’s a practical setup. Nothing fancy, just a place where engineering work actually happens. We drink a lot of chai and keep the machines running until the sun goes down. It’s a steady rhythm that we’ve grown to enjoy every day. We close up around seven.
