Ali Sagir Zari Art is based in Khanpur. It’s a small workshop where we focus on zari work. If you walk into our place, you’ll see people sitting on the floor working with needles and thread. It’s quiet work, but it takes a lot of time and focus. We’ve got frames set up for the fabric. The room is usually filled with the sound of the needles passing through the cloth. Khanpur is where we’ve always been. It’s a local neighborhood, not a big industrial zone. Our space isn't very large, so we have to be careful with how we store the threads and the finished pieces. We don't have a fancy showroom. Most of our work is for people who know us or for other shops that send us their material. It’s a traditional craft, and we just keep doing it the way we were taught. Sometimes the light isn't great, but we make do with what we have. We aren't big on marketing or social media. We just focus on the hands-on work. It’s a bit dusty, and there’s thread everywhere, but that’s just how a zari workshop looks. We take our time with each piece because you can't rush this kind of thing. It’s just us here in Khanpur, keeping the art going every day. People come by for custom work sometimes, and we just talk and see what they need for their specific projects.
