Natraj Bricks Works

Natraj Bricks Works is located in Ramchandra Nagar, under the Dhola police station in the 24 Parganas South district. This part of the country is where we’ve set up our brick kilns. It’s a landscape of tall chimneys and stacks of red bricks as far as you can see. We spend our time managing the fires and making sure the bricks are cooling properly. It’s a lot of coordination with the laborers and the truck drivers who come from all over the district. We aren't a big corporation with fancy offices; our office is just a small room with a fan and a desk covered in papers. The air is always a bit smoky, and your clothes always smell like the kiln by the end of the shift. We don’t do any fancy marketing. Word of mouth is how most people find us in Ramchandra Nagar. We just focus on getting the bricks ready for the local builders who are putting up apartments or houses nearby. Sometimes the logistics of getting the trucks in and out of the narrow roads can be a bit of a headache, but we’ve been doing it long enough that we have a system. It’s a tough business, but there’s a certain satisfaction in seeing a finished stack of bricks ready to go. We just keep at it, season after season, making sure the work gets done and the orders are filled as best we can.
