Tata Institute Of Social Sciences, Tuljapur

Our campus is out on Bijapur Road in Solapur. It is a bit far from the middle of town, but the Saiful area is where we are settled. The Tata Institute of Social Sciences has been here for a while now, and the Tuljapur campus has its own way of doing things. You won’t find any big fancy glass buildings here. It is more about the open spaces and the dusty paths between the blocks. Most days, you see students carrying big stacks of papers or sitting under the trees talking about their projects. The sun gets really sharp in this part of Maharashtra, so everyone tries to find shade by midday. It’s a quiet place, mostly just the sound of birds or the occasional motorbike passing by on the main road. The staff here are locals for the most part, or people who moved here and just stayed because they liked the slow pace. We don't have a big reception area with glossy brochures. Usually, you just walk in and ask the person at the first desk if you need something. It is a practical setup. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it feels like a place where real work happens without much fuss. We just go about our day, looking after the students and making sure the classes run on time. It is not a glamorous life, but it works for us out here.
