Surbhi Pre School

Surbhi Pre School is located in the Saiful Chowk area, specifically in Rohini Nagar 1, along the Bijapur Road in Solapur. It’s a small place, which is probably good since we’re dealing with very young children. The building is basically a house that’s been converted into a school, so it has a very domestic feel to it. We have brightly colored walls and a few mats on the floor where the kids sit for their stories and games. Outside, there’s a small fenced area with a couple of slides and swings, though the Solapur heat means we only let them out early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Being near Saiful Chowk, it gets quite noisy with the traffic from Bijapur Road, but the kids don't seem to mind much. We spend our days teaching them their ABCs and numbers, and dealing with a lot of spilled juice and afternoon naps. It’s a lot of work looking after toddlers, and the teachers are usually exhausted by the time the parents come to pick them up at noon. The parents are mostly local people from the Rohini Nagar neighborhood. We don't have any big corporate backing or fancy equipment. It’s just us, some toys, some books, and a lot of patience. It’s a simple, honest little place for the little ones to start their learning before they head off to the bigger schools in the city. We just take it one day at a time.
