Modern Classes

Modern Classes is right in Sidheshwar Peth in Solapur 413001. Even though the name says Modern, we are actually a very old-fashioned kind of place. We are located in one of the busier streets where there are lots of shops selling all sorts of things. The entrance is a bit narrow, so you have to look closely to find the stairs. Once you get inside, it’s just a few simple rooms with benches and some old cupboards where we keep the registers. The floor is made of old stone, and it stays cool even when the Solapur heat is bad outside. We don't have a big staff. It is usually just one or two of us handling everything from the teaching to the cleaning. We get a lot of noise from the street vendors outside, but you get used to the sound of people shouting about vegetables after a while. The students don't seem to mind the noise either. We don't use any flashy gadgets or anything. We mostly stick to the chalk and the board because that’s what we know best. It’s a honest way to spend the day. We’ve seen many different kids come through these doors over the years. Some are now grown up and have their own jobs. We just stay here in Sidheshwar Peth and keep the classes going for the next batch that comes along every year.
