Day Care

Up here in Solan, things are a bit quieter than the big cities. Our day care is located at Khundi Dhar, right off Rajgarh Road. The air is usually fresh because of the hills. We have a small building where local parents bring their little ones while they go to work. The rooms are full of colorful mats and boxes of toys that have seen better days. You’ll often find blocks scattered on the floor or a stray teddy bear near the window. We spend the day looking after toddlers and young children. There is a lot of singing and sometimes a bit of crying when someone wants their mom. We follow a basic routine of snacks, naps, and a little bit of playing outside when the weather is nice. Rajgarh Road can get some traffic, but we are tucked away enough that it doesn't bother the kids. The address is 173212 and we've been at this spot for a while. Our neighbors know us by the sound of children playing in the yard. We don't use any fancy systems, just a notebook to write down who arrived and what they ate. It feels more like a home than a business. The kitchen is always busy preparing simple meals like khichdi or fruit slices. Sometimes we sit on the porch and watch the clouds over the mountains while the kids are sleeping. It’s just a steady, honest day’s work for us.
