Sri Kaliswari College Sivakasi

Being out here in Hussain Colony, Sivakasi, things move at their own pace. Sri Kaliswari College is where a lot of local students end up for their studies. It’s a big place, but it feels like a community once you’re inside the gates. The sun gets pretty hot here in Tamil Nadu, so everyone looks for the shady spots during breaks. We see a lot of young people coming in from nearby villages and towns. They’re mostly just trying to get through their classes and find a good path for themselves. We have lecturers who have been here for years and know everyone by name. It isn't always perfect; sometimes the schedules get a bit messy or the labs are crowded, but we manage. You’ll see students hanging out near the 4/1592 address point after their lectures are done for the day. It’s a lot of walking back and forth between the buildings. We focus on getting the work done and making sure the students actually learn something they can use later. It’s not about being the flashiest college around. We just provide the space and the books for them to study. There is always a lot of chatter in the hallways between periods. It feels like a real, living place where people are just trying to build a future for themselves without too much fuss. We just keep the lights on and the classrooms open for whoever wants to learn.
