Lakshmi School

Lakshmi School is out on Sivaganga Road in the Karuppaiyurani area. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city, which actually makes it a lot quieter than most schools. The air is a bit fresher here because there aren't as many buildings packed together. We have a decent-sized space where the kids can run around a little. The classrooms are basic, just the usual benches and blackboards. We spend a lot of time making sure the kids actually learn their lessons instead of just memorizing them. It’s a lot of work because some children come from quite far away. The road outside can get busy with buses and lorries, but inside the gate, it’s mostly just the sound of teachers talking. We don't have a big office or anything like that. The principal usually sits in a room that’s also used for storage sometimes. We try to keep the garden at the front looking okay, but the heat makes it hard for the plants to stay green all year. Most of the parents are local workers or farmers from around the Sivaganga area. They trust us to look after their kids during the day. We aren't trying to be the most expensive or the fanciest place. We just want to make sure these kids get an education so they have more options later on in life. That’s what we do here every day.
