Adarsh Vidya Mandir Shankar Vidya Peeth

Adarsh Vidya Mandir Shankar Vidya Peeth is located at the Alwar Palace in Mount Abu. Being up here in the hills is different from schools down in the plains of Rajasthan. The air is thinner and it gets quite chilly in the mornings, so the students often wear thick sweaters for a good part of the year. The school is housed in a place with a lot of history, being part of the Alwar Palace grounds. It is not a modern glass building; it has that old stone feel that you find in Mount Abu. There are trees around the property and sometimes monkeys come onto the roof, which can be a bit of a distraction for the classes. Our staff members live nearby and they are used to the quiet life of a hill station. The tourists are always walking around outside, but inside the gates, it is all about books and lessons. We have a hall where we gather for morning assemblies, and the sound echoes off the high ceilings. The walk up to the school can be a bit steep, but everyone is used to it by now. We do not have many fancy facilities, just the classrooms, the library, and the space where kids run around. It is a peaceful place to work and learn, far away from the noise of the big cities. We just keep doing what we do every year with the resources we have.
