Aakriti Architects

Aakriti Architects is based in Jamshedpur, India. The person behind it has a background in B.Com (Hons.) from Jamshedpur, which might seem a bit different for an architect, but it helps with the business side of things. Our office is a place where we sit and think about how to make spaces work better for the people using them. We don't have a big fancy studio with a lot of staff. It’s more of a personal setup where we can focus on one project at a time without distractions. Jamshedpur is a city built on industry, and we try to bring that same practical spirit into our architectural work. We spend our days sketching out ideas and then figuring out how to make them into real structures. It involves a lot of back and forth with contractors and clients. We aren't interested in making things look good if they aren't useful. Everything has to have a purpose. If we are out at a site, it might take us a bit to get back to you, but we always do. The work is steady and we enjoy the challenge of a new site or a difficult brief. We don't use any of those complex design terms that no one understands. We just talk about where the walls should go and how the light will hit the rooms.
