Out here in Jaldega, Simdega Chironji Producer Companylimited focuses on Chironji. If you know the area, you know that Jaldega is where we are set up. It’s a small place, and our operation is basically part of the village life. We collect the seeds and process them right here. It’s very seasonal work. When it’s time to harvest, everyone is busy, and when it’s not, we are just maintaining the place and planning for next time. We are a producer company, meaning it’s a collective effort from the people living here. We don't have a big corporate office in a city. Our office is just a room in Jaldega where we keep our books. The real work is done outside or in the storage areas. We deal with the local trees and the people who know how to pick them. Sometimes the weather doesn't help us, or the yields are low, but that’s just how it is with nature. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in the world; we just want to handle the Chironji from our own region properly. It’s a practical business. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the market prices while sitting on plastic chairs. It’s humble, it’s local, and it’s what we do.
