Sree Guru Bhander

Sree Guru Bhander is right at Chanpadali More in the North 24 Parganas district. This is a very busy junction where all the buses and rickshaws meet. Because of that, we get a lot of people just passing through who need something quickly. The shop is usually dusty from all the traffic outside, so we spend a lot of time cleaning the glass jars. We sell mostly food items like pulses, rice, and oil. We weigh everything out by hand on the old scales. It’s a bit slow, but it’s accurate. My cousins and I run the place together. We don't really have set roles; whoever is closest to the customer helps them. We’ve been at this location for a long time, and the building is starting to show its age. The walls could use some fresh paint, but we haven't found the time to do it. During the festivals, the road outside gets blocked with processions, and we just stand at the door and watch. It’s a good spot to be in, even if it is noisy. We have a regular routine of opening at eight and closing when the last bus leaves the more. We don't have any fancy signs, just the name painted above the door. It’s a straightforward shop for people who live around the 24 Parganas area. We just try to keep things honest and the bags filled correctly.
