If you know Siliguri, you know Hill Cart Road is always packed with people and cars moving toward the hills. We are right in the middle of that at Sartaj A.C Restaurant & Bar. We started this place because we wanted a spot where people could get out of the heat and have a cold drink or a meal without all the dust from the street coming in. The air conditioning is probably the most important thing we have here, especially during those humid months in West Bengal. Our kitchen stays busy from lunch until late at night. We have a regular crowd of locals who come in after work to sit in the bar area and just talk. It isn't a fancy place with white tablecloths and tiny portions. We serve normal food that fills you up. Sometimes the music might be a bit loud or a table is wobbly, but we try to keep it comfortable for everyone. The staff has been here a long time, so we know most of the people who walk through the door by name. We spend a lot of time cleaning the floors and making sure the fridge is stocked with enough bottles for the evening rush. It is a lot of work running a bar and restaurant on such a busy road, but we enjoy the noise and the energy. We’re just here doing our thing every day on Hill Cart Road in Siliguri.
