Mikkeys Mercantiles

We have our place in Seth Srilal Market, right on the Main Road here in Darjeeling. It’s quite close to the United Bank of India, which is a busy part of the market. Since we are in the hills, the shop is tucked into one of those narrow buildings that line the road. We sell a bit of everything, which is why we call it a mercantile. You’ll find things like woolens, umbrellas, and small household items packed onto the shelves. The air in Darjeeling is usually cool, so the shop feels cozy when it’s full of goods. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the stacks of clothes and boxes. We get a mix of locals doing their daily shopping and tourists who’ve wandered into the market. It can get very crowded during the tourist season, and the narrow aisles make it a bit of a squeeze. We’ve been here for a long time, watching the clouds roll through the streets outside. The wooden floorboards creak when you walk on them, but that’s common for these old market buildings. We spend our days chatting with neighbors and helping people find what they need. It’s not a high-end store, just a regular market shop where you can find honest goods at a fair price. It’s a nice way to spend the day, right in the heart of the town. We like the morning fog here.
