Our kitchen is up on the 3rd floor of the Shikha Deep Building. Being on Sevoke Road in Siliguri means we deal with a lot of traffic outside, but it’s quieter up here. We started this place because we wanted to provide simple meals to people working nearby. It’s not a fancy restaurant with waiters in uniforms or anything like that. We have some tables where people can sit and eat their lunch quickly. Most of our work is actually the catering side of things. We get orders for local events and family gatherings around the 734001 area. My brother handles the deliveries while I stay in the kitchen to make sure the food is ready on time. It gets hot back there, especially during the summer months. We don't spend money on big advertisements; people just find us through word of mouth or by seeing the sign on the building. Sometimes the elevator in the building acts up, so we have to carry things up the stairs, which is a bit of a workout. We focus on basic, honest food that reminds people of home. It’s a small operation with just a few of us working hard every day. We’ve been here for a few years now and have a steady rhythm going. It’s just a standard workplace where we try to do a decent job for our customers. We close up once the orders are done for the day.
