R. L. Construction

We have our office in Shillong Patty, right near the Woman College. It is a decent spot to be, though it gets very wet and muddy around here when the rains start. R. L. Construction isn't some giant firm with hundreds of people. We are a smaller team that spends a lot of time out at different sites and then comes back here to handle the plans and the bills. There are always rolls of blueprints lying around and someone is usually talking loudly on a mobile phone about a delivery of sand or cement. The office itself is pretty plain with some plastic chairs and a desk that is wobbly. We have a lot of people walking by because of the college, so it never feels too quiet. Building things in this region can be a headache with the weather and the transport, but we just deal with it as it comes. We don't have a fancy mission statement or anything; we just try to get the walls straight and the roofs on before the monsoon hits too hard. Sometimes we stay late to finish a drawing or to talk to a contractor who couldn't make it during the day. It’s a lot of physical work and keeping track of small details that most people don't see. We just like to see the projects get finished so we can move on to the next one.
