Tata Brick Industry

Tata Brick Industry is located out in Aamgudi, right along the Moriaini Road. If you know the area, we are quite close to the Sunday Market which makes that particular day of the week very crowded and loud. You can hear the vendors calling out and the smell of the food stalls drifts over to our yard. During the rest of the week, it is a bit quieter but the road still has plenty of trucks moving through Dist Sibsagar. We spend a lot of time out in the sun moving the bricks around and checking the stacks. The dirt here gets into your boots and stays there. We don't have a big fancy office, just a small place to sit and keep the books out of the rain. When the monsoon hits, the ground gets real soft and we have to be careful where we park the heavy loads so the wheels don't get stuck in the mud. It is hard work and our hands are usually rough from handling the clay and the finished bricks all day long. Sometimes we sit by the road and watch the traffic go by while we drink some hot tea in the afternoon. People from the nearby villages often stop by just to say hello or ask about how the work is going. It is a simple life here and we just keep busy with the daily chores and the orders that come in.
