Down on T.O. Road in Shikaripur, you will find Suraj Rice Mill. We are part of the Shimoga district, which is a great place for rice. Our mill is a busy spot, especially when the harvest comes in. We spend our days surrounded by the smell of raw paddy and the sound of the machines doing their thing. It is not the kind of job where you wear a suit and tie. Most of us are in old clothes that we don't mind getting dirty. The road outside can get quite clogged with tractors during the peak months, and that’s when we really have to work hard to keep everything moving. The mill itself has been around for a while, and it shows in the walls and the floors, but the equipment still runs fine.
