Savitha Oil Mill

Savitha Oil Mill is found on C.N Road, right by the Bhadra Colony Post. You can usually tell you’re getting close because of the heavy, warm scent of pressing oil that hangs in the air. It’s a scent that sticks to your clothes after a while, but we don’t really notice it anymore. The mill is a noisy place with the machines running most of the day, crushing seeds and filling up drums. It’s hard work and it gets quite greasy, but it’s what we do. We are right near the post office, so there are always people moving around outside and parking their cycles. The building itself is an older structure, and we’ve had to patch the roof a couple of times after the monsoon season got a bit too rough. We don’t have a big sales team or anything like that. People know where we are, and they come to C.N Road when they need what we make. We keep the big doors open to catch whatever breeze we can get during the day. The staff here is mostly local folks from around Bhadra Colony. We take our breaks under the shade of the big tree out back when the machines are quiet for lunch. It’s a straightforward life at the mill. We aren't trying to change the world; we just want to keep the machines running and produce a good batch of oil every single day.
