Kanteswara Stores

Kanteswara Stores is our place on GSS Road in Shikaripura. The address is 8-11-42, right on the main stretch. We’ve been here serving the local families for a long time. The shop is filled with bags of grain, spices, and everyday items. It’s a bit cramped inside because we try to stock as much as possible. You have to walk carefully through the narrow aisles. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that stay on all day. The counter is made of heavy wood and is worn down in the middle from all the bags being slid across it. We open up early and close once it gets dark. Most of our customers are neighbors who have been coming here since they were children. We don't do anything special or fancy. We just sell what people need at a fair price. Sometimes the supply is a bit short, especially during the festival season, but we tell people the truth about it. It’s an honest way to make a living. The door squeaks when you open it, but we never got around to fixing it. It lets us know when someone walks in. We spend our days mostly organizing the stock and chatting with whoever stops by. It’s a simple routine that hasn't changed much over the many years we have been open.
