Our shop is at the Right Choice Centre in the Main Bazar of Reckong Peo. If you know Kalpa or the Kinnaur area, you know how busy the main bazar can get. We call ourselves MSRB Technocraft. The name sounds a bit technical, and we do a lot of the hands-on mechanical and technical work that people need up here. Being in a remote place like Kinnaur means you have to be resourceful. You can't just order a part and expect it to arrive in an hour. We deal with whatever technical issues come our way, from buildings to machinery. The office is right in the middle of the action, so there’s always noise from the street. We’ve got a small group of guys who are good with their hands and don't mind the cold. It’s a tough place to work in the winter, but the people here are sturdy. We don't have a glossy brochure or a fancy website. We just rely on the fact that we've been in the bazar for a while and people know where to find us when something breaks or needs a technical eye. It’s a lot of coffee and troubleshooting. We just show up every day, open the shutters, and see what the day brings. It’s a decent living and it keeps us part of the community here. The peaks around us are beautiful, but the work is hard. Sometimes we have to travel long distances for one small repair.
