Karakatsahmati Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are located in the village of Sonbarsa, in the Karakat block. Narayan Singh’s house, number 224, is where we handle the business side of things. It’s a group of local farmers from Tolapanch and around here. Most of us grow grains and whatever else is in season. The soil around Sonbarsa is okay if the rains come at the right time. We spend most of our time out in the fields rather than in the office. This whole thing started because we wanted to have a better way to buy things like fertilizer together. It saves a bit of money when you buy in bulk, which helps us all. We aren't looking to be some giant company. We just want to make sure the people in our village get a decent price for their crops. There are plenty of days where things don't go as planned, like when the pests get into the plants or a pump breaks down. We share advice on what worked for one person and what didn't. It’s a community effort really. Narayan Singh helps keep the records organized so we know who contributed what. We meet up when we can, usually after the sun goes down and the day's work is finished. It’s just us farmers trying to navigate the markets. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy year-round. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment, just the tools we've used for years to work the land.
