Mount Little Kingdom School

Up here in Village Mankughati, life moves a bit slower. Mount Little Kingdom School is situated right in the heart of the village under Block Junnardeo. It’s mostly surrounded by trees and some small houses. The air is cleaner here than in the cities, but the roads get pretty muddy when it rains. We don't have a big grand entrance. It’s just a gate that someone has to manually lock every evening. The classrooms are small and we keep them as tidy as we can, though there’s always some red dirt tracked in from the fields. We only have a few teachers and we all know the families of every student who comes here. Sometimes a kid doesn't show up because they’re helping at home, and we have to send someone to check on them. We don’t have computers in every room or anything like that. We use books and the blackboard. The kids bring their own lunches in metal tins and eat together under the big tree in the back. It’s a quiet place for the most part, except during the morning assembly when everyone is singing. We don't have a website or fancy flyers. People in Mankughati just know where we are. We just focus on the basics and try to make sure the kids get their work done and learn something useful. It’s a humble setup, but it’s what we have here in Junnardeo and we make it work for the families.
