Kagaz Bhavan is a name that most people in the paper trade around here know well. We are on the first floor, at 1-7-304-309/1, right on M. G. Road in Secunderabad. It’s a very old and busy part of town. If you look out the window, you just see a constant stream of cars and people moving toward the station. Inside the Telangana Paper Merchants Assn., it’s all about the industry. We have samples of different paper types lying around and plenty of ledgers. The air sometimes smells like old paper and ink. Merchants come in to discuss prices, supply issues, or just to catch up on what’s happening in the market. It’s a traditional kind of place. We don't have high-tech gadgets everywhere. We use standard desks and old-fashioned filing cabinets because they work fine for what we need. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit steep, but people don't seem to mind. We spend our days making sure the members are on the same page and that any issues with the trade are talked through. It’s not a flashy job. It’s about paper, pure and simple. We’ve been in this building for a long time, and the walls have that lived-in look. It’s just a hub for people who buy and sell paper to meet and sort out their business affairs in Secunderabad.
