Standard Bricks

Out here in Gondawale Khurd, we've been making bricks for a long time. Our place is near the Satara Padur Road, so it’s easy for the trucks to get in and out. It’s a dusty job, and the sun gets pretty hot during the day. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It's mostly just the kiln and the stacks of bricks waiting to be picked up. My family has been doing this kind of work in Tahsil Man for years. We know the local clay and how it behaves when it's fired. It's not always perfect, sometimes a batch doesn't turn out quite right, but that's just how brickmaking goes. Neighbors come by when they are building a wall or a small shed. We don't use any fancy machinery, just the usual tools and a lot of manual labor. It's hard work on the back, but it keeps us busy. The road nearby stays busy with traffic, which helps people find us. We don't really have a sales team, usually, it's just whoever is at the site who handles the orders. We sell what we make right here on the ground. Sometimes people call ahead, other times they just show up with a tractor. We try to keep a decent supply ready, especially when the weather is good for drying. It’s a simple life out here in this part of Satara.
