Bijapure Steel

Bijapure Steel started out here on the Puna-Banglore Road near Malkapur. It’s a busy spot with trucks always passing by and the sound of traffic is constant. We handle a lot of steel stuff, mostly heavy bars and sheets used for building things. The yard gets quite dusty in the summer and a bit messy when it rains, but that’s just how it is in this part of Satara. We open early because that’s when the loaders like to get their work done before the midday heat kicks in. Most of the guys working here are from the nearby villages and have been with us for years. We don’t have a big fancy office, just a small cabin where we keep the ledgers and a couple of chairs. You’ll find us mostly outside checking the stock or helping with the weighing. It’s loud because of the highway and the cutting machines, but you get used to it after a week. People stop by to ask for specific sizes of rods or just to check what we have in the yard. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the piles of metal get ahead of us during busy weeks. It’s honest work, dealing with construction guys and local builders who need materials. We’ve been at this address for a long time now, right by the Khara area. Nothing much has changed except the road getting busier every year. If you’re driving down from Pune, you can usually see the stacks of steel near the road.
