We set up Annai Steel out here in Village Patkl Mata, right by the highway on Satara Road. It’s a good location for us because the big trailers can pull in and out without getting stuck in town traffic. The yard is mostly open space where we keep the steel rods and sheets stacked up. It’s heavy work, and the sound of metal clanging is something you hear all day long. We have a small shed where we keep the more sensitive items out of the rain, but most of the inventory stays out in the open. The sun can get really hot out here, so we usually take a long break in the middle of the day when it’s too warm to handle the metal. We’re just a small crew, mostly local guys from the village who know their way around steel. We don’t have any fancy computer systems for tracking everything; we mostly use chalk marks and notebooks to keep count. It’s a bit of an unpolished operation, but we get the job done. Customers usually come in their own small trucks to pick up what they need for their building projects. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room. If you come by, you’ll just find us in the yard or sitting in the small cabin near the gate. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it has worked for us so far. We try to be helpful and give folks a hand with the loading when they need it, even if it’s outside our regular hours.
