ROOP RAI AGRICULTURE WORKS

You will find us on Nabha Road in Amargarh. We are right near the 66 Power House which is a big landmark for everyone around here. ROOP RAI AGRICULTURE WORKS is a place where there is always the sound of metal hitting metal. It is a workshop with high ceilings and plenty of grease. We spend our days working on parts for tractors and other farm machinery. The floor is usually covered in iron shavings and tools that someone forgot to put back. Farmers from all over the area come to us when their equipment breaks down. They are usually in a hurry because the weather is changing or the harvest is starting. We don't have a fancy waiting room with magazines. People just stand around and talk while we work on their machines. It gets very hot in the summer with the welding going on but we just drink a lot of water and keep moving. My family has been doing this kind of work for years and we don't know any other way. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in Punjab. We just want to make sure the machines we fix stay fixed. It is hard work and our clothes are always stained with oil by the end of the day. That is just how a workshop like ours is supposed to be.
