Ravi Rice Mills

Ravi Rice Mills is just a regular spot on Narwana Road in Khanauri Mandi. We’ve been operating here for a while now, mostly just keeping our heads down and doing the work. The mill isn’t anything fancy to look at from the outside. Inside, it’s usually quite loud with the machines running all day long. We deal with a lot of rice, obviously. It comes in from the local fields and we spend our time sorting through it and getting it ready. There are days when the dust is so thick you can barely see the other side of the shed, but that’s just part of the job. We have a small group of workers who know the machines inside out. Sometimes things break down and we have to spend half a day fixing a belt or a motor. It’s not like those big corporate places you see in the city. We’re just local people working with what we have. People in the Mandi know us well enough. We don't spend much time on computers or fancy office work. Most of our time is spent out on the floor or talking to the drivers bringing in the loads. It gets very busy during the harvest months, and we end up staying late most nights. The rest of the year is a bit slower, which gives us time to clean up and do repairs. We just try to do an honest day’s work here.
