Malwa Rice Mills

Malwa Rice Mills is located right in Khanouri Mandi. Our address is at Post Khanouri Mandi in the Sangrur district. Being right in the mandi area means we are in the middle of all the grain trade activity. It is always busy around here, especially during the peak seasons. There are always people shouting, trucks honking, and the sound of heavy bags being dropped. Our mill has been part of this landscape for a while. The walls are stained from years of work and the Punjab weather. We have a small area where we keep our tools and spare parts for the hullers. It is not the most organized place, but we know where everything is. The office is just a small room with a fan and a couple of ledgers where we write everything down by hand. We do not use computers much for the daily tallying. Most of the guys working here are from the surrounding villages. We eat our lunch together under the shade of a tree if it is not too dusty outside. The work at Malwa Rice Mills is manual and requires a lot of standing and lifting. By the time we lock up at night, we are usually pretty tired. But that is the nature of working in a place like Khanouri Mandi. It is a busy life, and there is always more rice to process tomorrow.
