Krishna Rice Mill

The mill sits right on the Main Road in District Sangrur. It’s a prime spot for the farmers coming in from the surrounding villages. The yard is quite large and we have plenty of space for the trucks to turn around. We spend our days watching the scales and making sure the grain is moving through the cleaners correctly. It’s a noisy environment with the constant hum of the electricity and the clanking of the metal parts. We have a few benches outside where the drivers can sit and rest while their loads are being processed. The office is usually a bit of a mess with papers and sample bags of rice scattered around. We don't worry too much about how it looks as long as we can find what we need. The sun sets right behind the main silo in the evenings and it’s the quietest time of the day. We have been part of the Sangrur landscape for quite a while now. People know us for being right there on the road. We don't spend money on advertising or anything like that. The work speaks for itself and people just know where we are. It’s a lot of sweating in the summer and shivering in the winter but that’s just the nature of the business. We keep the machines running and the rice moving out to the markets as fast as we can.
