Dayal Rice Mill

Dayal Rice Mill is located right on Bhawanigarh Road. It is a busy stretch of road, so there is always the sound of traffic mixing with the hum of our machinery. The building has been here for a long time, and you can tell by the way the bricks look. We don't have any big signs or bright lights. Most people around here just know us by the location. When the season starts, the pace picks up and we are working round the clock. It can get pretty tiring, but the work has to be finished while the weather stays dry. If it rains, everything slows down and we have to cover the heaps with heavy tarps. Those tarps are heavy and a pain to move, but that is part of the job. Inside, the floor is always covered in a thin layer of grain and husks. We sweep it up, but ten minutes later it looks the same again. The workers have their own way of doing things, and I don't get in their way much. We eat our lunch together in the shade of the big neem tree out back when it gets too hot inside. It is a simple setup. We don't have a website or any of that stuff. We just focus on the grain coming in and the bags going out. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit and wait for it to come back on.
