Bachpan...A Play School

We are located right on the Main Road in Punjabi Bagh Colony, Lehragaga. It’s a busy spot but once you step inside the gates of Bachpan, it’s all about the little ones. We started this play school because the neighborhood needed a place where kids could just be kids before they start the hard work of real school. The building isn't huge but we have enough room for the toys and the small desks. You can hear the rhymes being sung from the street sometimes. It’s noisy, sure, but that’s what happens when you have a bunch of toddlers in one place. We spend a lot of time cleaning up blocks and making sure no one trips over the rug. The teachers here are mostly local ladies who have children of their own, so they know how to handle a tantrum or a scraped knee. We don't have a big fancy website or any corporate offices. It’s just us here in Sangrur. Parents drop their kids off in the morning, usually on their way to work or the market. We talk to them for a bit, maybe share a bit of news about how the child is eating. It’s a simple routine that we’ve been following for a long time. There is no big secret to what we do. We just look after the children and help them learn their first letters.
