Arjun Rice Mills

Arjun Rice Mills is another one of the spots located on Tajo Ke Road in Tapa Mandi. Being in the mandi area means we are right in the thick of things when it comes to the rice trade. Our gates are usually open early in the morning, and we stay late if the work demands it. It is a grit-and-grind kind of place. The floors are rarely clean for more than ten minutes because of all the chaff and dust flying around. We have got our regulars who come back every year. We know their trucks and their families. It makes the long days go by a bit faster when you are working with people you know. The machinery is loud and it vibrates the whole floor, but that is just the sound of work getting done. We do not use any high-tech software or fancy tracking. We just use our eyes and a bit of experience to tell if the rice is coming out right. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, and we have to scramble to cover the piles before they get soaked by a surprise rain. It is a lot of running around. Tapa Mandi is a good community for this kind of thing. We just try to keep our heads down and do the milling. It isn’t glamorous work, but it is essential around here. We just take things day by day and hope for a good season every single year.
