Surinder Kheti Center

Living and working in Samrala means you get to know everyone eventually. Our place, Surinder Kheti Center, is pretty much what you’d expect from a local spot in town. We spend our mornings opening up and seeing who comes in from the nearby farms. It’s a lot of talk about the weather and how the crops are doing this season. We don't have a big corporate team, just us here behind the counter. The shelves are full of things farmers need, and we try to keep it organized, though it doesn't always stay that way during the busy planting times. It gets quite hectic when the season changes. You’ll see tractors pulling up outside and people asking for advice on what to use for their soil. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. It’s just a store in Samrala where people come to get their supplies. Sometimes we sit outside when it’s quiet and just watch the street. The routine is the same most weeks. We order more stock, unpack it, and help the customers who walk through the door. There’s no big secret to how we run things. It’s just about being here when the farmers need something and making sure we have the right items on hand. Samrala is a good place for this kind of business because everyone is connected to the land in one way or another. We just fit into that cycle of the seasons and the work.
